What is the ISO 45001 Health & Safety Standard?

ISO 45001 is an internationally recognised standard for Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems (OHSMS)  and provides a framework to identify and mitigate risks and monitor workplace activities. By implementing ISO 45001  effectively and integrating employee participation, wellbeing  and wellness activities, businesses can proactively prevent workplace ill-health and injury.

Successfully achieving ISO45001 certification encourages active employee involvement and participation, leading to a safer workplace and less disruption to operations due to staff illness or health-related absence.

This global ISO standard supports the development of health and safety policies and objectives, determines  hazards and health risks, and implements controls and procedures to reduce the risk of harm.

Achieving ISO 45001 certification could benefit your business in many ways:

  • Improved Health & Safety effectiveness and ultimately productivity.

  • Ensures that YOUR WORKERS get home safely to their families EVERY DAY!

  • Lower Accident / Incident Frequency rates (AFR).

  • Meeting and Exceeding Legal Compliance Obligations.

  • Stand out from your competitors with demonstratable certification.

  • Win and retain new business with a safer workplace – more Approved Supplier Accreditations.

How Does ISO 45001 work?

Companies implement an OHSMS based on the requirements of ISO 45001, which involves defining processes, procedures, and responsibilities to ensure health and safety effectiveness within the workplace. An independent audit is then conducted to verify that their OHSMS meets the requirements of the standard to enable ISO 45001 Certification.
