This role exists to safeguard lives and property by ensuring the highest standards of fire safety compliance across a diverse range of premises. Through diligent risk assessment, expert advice, and proactive engagement with clients, the role plays a vital part in fostering safe environments for businesses, employees, and the wider community. By staying abreast of evolving legislation and best practices, the Fire Safety Officer not only helps clients meet their legal obligations but also champions a culture of continual improvement in fire prevention and emergency preparedness.
The Fire Safety Officer will be responsible for conducting Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) across a range of normal and medium risk premises, primarily located in South and West Wales. All assessments will be carried out in accordance with current legislation and best practices, utilising appropriate FRA software applications. Key responsibilities include preparing FRA reports and action plans, advising SWS clients on fire safety compliance and legal obligations, and identifying any necessary training requirements. The role also requires staying informed about fire safety legislation, codes of practice, and industry developments. Additionally, the officer will support clients in developing and implementing fire evacuation plans and emergency procedures.
Above all, candidates should demonstrate drive, conscientiousness, and a willingness to learn and develop. Even if current qualifications do not fully meet the criteria, SWS may still consider applicants who possess the right mindset, attitude, and are a good fit for the business and its clients.
This position may be available on either a full-time or part-time basis. It may also be suited to graduate candidates who are seeking a 6- or 12-month placement with the potential for ongoing employment. SWS is committed to offering flexible working arrangements, including a hybrid model, for suitable candidates. In essence, SWS is open to considering any form of employment if the candidate proves to be a good fit for the business. Various negotiable packages are available to accommodate individual needs.
